FISH-NL has come across a rare find — an FFAW-Unifor financial report. In theory, union members are supposed to have access to the financial information of their union, but inshore harvesters have been denied such information for years. Until now.
The overview is a simple one, with no real breakdown of where revenues come from. In 2014/15, the union paid out $2.43 million in salaries and benefits to 59 employees — which ate up almost 39 per cent of the union's overall $6.29 million in revenue.
While the FFAW-Unifor is also involved in dozens of government projects and programs, it doesn't break down where exactly its revenue comes from.
